Product Application Guidelines: Plastic-Lined and Concrete Ponds

Plastic-lined pondConcrete pondBothFull CycleStandard

01

What this protocol is for

Complete product application reference for plastic-lined and concrete ponds from preparation through harvest. The grow-out dosage schedule is identical to the earthen pond protocol. Differences are in pond preparation only: no soil drying, use soft tools for liner cleaning, and the optional high-organic-matter pre-treatment step is not applicable. For plastic lined ponds with plastic lining on the sides but an earth bottom, follow the earth bottom pond protocol.

Main Objective

Provide a complete reference for product application in plastic-lined and concrete-bottom pond systems, from preparation through harvest.

02

When to use this protocol

Plastic-lined and concrete ponds, all species

Important Notes

  • !

Do not use lime, dolomite, or zeolite with Blue Aqua system.

  • !

No antibiotics, disinfectants during culture, pesticides, or herbicides.

  • !

No water exchange. Top up only.

  • !

For plastic lined ponds with plastic lining on the sides but an earth bottom, follow the earth bottom pond protocol.

Step by step instructions

1

Drain and clean liner

Drain completely. Remove sludge using soft tools. Remove debris and biofilm from liner surfaces and walls.

2

Optional: post-disease chlorination

If pond had a disease event in the previous cycle: fill to maximum level. Wait 2 or more days for pathogen spores or eggs to hatch. Apply 10 ppm free chlorine (bacterial) or 30 ppm (viral). Leave 3 days. Aerate on Day 4 to evaporate chlorine.

3

Incoming water disinfection

Disinfect incoming water with AlphaSep 1 to 2 ppm (10 to 20 kg per hectare). Leave for 1 day.

4

Mineral pre-treatment

Apply MinGro 10 kg per hectare (1 ppm) for 2 to 3 days with aerators running.

5

Phytoplankton check before stocking

Confirm Secchi disk reads 50 cm before stocking.

6

Day 1: Artemia supplement

Apply Artemia at 1 can per 200,000 PLs.

7

Day 2: MinGro and SoilGro

Apply MinGro and SoilGro at recommended dosages. Following day: apply molasses 1 kg per hectare.

8

Day 4: SoilGro

Apply SoilGro. Following day: apply molasses.

9

Regular dosage schedule from 1 week post-stocking through harvest

Identical to earthen pond schedule. See Parameters table. AlphaGuard*L Plus applied daily via feed throughout.

04
