Troubleshooting
High Organic Load, Low Phytoplankton
01
What this protocol is for
An 8-day extended corrective schedule for conditions where high organic load is combined with low phytoplankton. Days 1 to 5 follow the phytoplankton crash, BGA, and overbloom protocol exactly. Days 5 to 7 add FytoGro and BactoGro to gradually rebuild phytoplankton alongside continued molasses. MinGro at 0.5 ppm is applied from Day 2 for 7 days.
Main Objective
Reduce organic load, correct ammonia, and gradually re-establish a stable phytoplankton bloom using an 8-day extended product schedule.
02
When to use this protocol
All pond types, both species, during grow-out when high organic load is combined with low phytoplankton
Important Notes
- !
Keep aerators running continuously. High organic load creates high BOD and low DO risk.
- !
This is an extension of the 5-day phytoplankton crash protocol. Do not skip Days 1 to 5 and go directly to the FytoGro phase.
03
Step by step instructions
Days 5 to 7: FytoGro for 3 consecutive days
Apply FytoGro for 3 consecutive days to gradually increase phytoplankton.
Days 5 to 7: Continue molasses
Continue molasses application alongside BactoGro during Days 5 to 7.
From Day 2: MinGro 0.5 ppm for 7 days
Apply MinGro at 0.5 ppm from Day 2, continuing for 7 days.
04
Key parameters to monitor
Molasses: Days 3 to 7
2 kg per hectare per day
MinGro: Days 2 to 8
0.5 ppm daily for 7 days
AmmoTrap dose
0.3 ppm (if TAN exceeds 3 ppm)
